Okay. Help.

Let's play the 'Which is Better?' game.

Large double with bath in Marlton- no phone, no internet, no air conditioning, freshmen.

Double with bath in William Street- phone, internet, air conditioning, graduate/undergrad.

I'm a freshman.
I have both options open.
Which would you choose?

Your opinions are valued.

I don't know in terms of which dorm is nicer, etc. but I would say that you'll probably appreciate not having to take the subway to class and pretty much everywhere else as there is nothing really to do in the finance dist. Location wise, Marlton is probably the best NYC address available... In terms of phone/web service.... if you have a cell phone you might not want a land line and if you have a laptop with a wireless card, it's totally possible that you'll just be able to pick up on someone else's signal... As for no AC, in the winter it really won't matter and for now you'll have a fan. I'm in Marlton, too, and I was upset initially, but honestly, the location is soooooo good that I'm pretty happy to be there.

or maybe I just wasn't accepted and I just don't know it yet.

didn't get my schedule either, I thought we were supposed to sign up during orientation, but then people are like "here are my classes"

I'm confused.

how do you have an option between both? I got Marlton, called to ask about changing, and they said they can't do anything until the second week of school.

I don't know. I figured I would just let it be and stay in Marlton, until today I logged into alvin and saw that I was charged for William St and not Marlton. I called up housing and they said that if the charges were transferred to say William... then I was in William, but I could change back if I wanted to.

alsjdfaskdf what's the site to get on Alvin? I always forget, and hopefully I'll have a weird option like you...

Yes, How DID you get the option of changing?

I think Marlton would be more fun, even though Williams St. would be more comfortable. Which one is overall more expensive?

Dude, Marlton large double with bath is 11,700 + phone + internet + meal plan. William large double with bath is 10,200, phone, internet, and METROCARD included, plus air conditioning, kitchen, and living room. Ask me who made up those numbers and I'll show you my godsend.

i'll throw in my two cents here - i know nothing about either of the dorms, but as someone who commuted everyday for four years from dorchester to downtown boston on the subway (the equivalent of commuting from brooklyn to manhattan), let me tell you that it's no fun. having to allow extra time in the morning for delays on the train is a bitch. if i were in your position, i'd pick marlton JUST to avoid taking the subway every morning, no matter how short of a ride it is.

Marlton doesn't have heat in the winter; I'd take a commute any day.

That's actually illegal... Did they tell you that? I mean, the no AC isn't great, but I kind of doubt there's no heat....

heard it straight from someone who lived there last year. There IS heating, but it doesn't work very well.
