“Okay, I give up, I am not going to finish grading these tests today” John muttered to himself as another jubilantly screaming student ran down the hall by John’s office.

John wandered out into the hall way to see what all the screaming was about. Up and down the hall there were kid’s high-fiving and congratulating each other.

John made his way through the groups of students on his way Elizabeth’s office. This was the law building so she would know what was going on. On the way up, he looked out the window and saw a large tent and party tables were being set up in the quad by the stone ring. John was really confused, normally he was the first invited to University events, but he had no knowledge of anything going on today.

John almost couldn’t get into Elizabeth office there were so many people crowded in the hallway and around Peter’s desk. He saw Elizabeth standing in the middle of everyone shaking hands with a few students.

He was just about to leave when Elizabeth saw him. “John, come in, we were just celebrating Langford’s new and improved bar passage rate.”

John walked into the office and was immediately caught up in the excitement. Elizabeth bounced over and gave John a big hug.

“Wow! We must have done really well for you to be this excited. What’s our new passage rate?” John looked at Elizabeth as he asked the question. They were no longer hugging, but John still had his arm around her shoulders and she didn’t look like she wanted him to move it anytime soon.

“89% of Langford Students who took the bar exam for the first time passed. That’s 14% higher than last year and the highest pass rate Langford has ever had.” Elizabeth looked like she was about to burst with excitement.

“Well that is a wonderful reason to celebrate!!!” John swept Elizabeth up into another hug and swung her around until she starting laughing, well not laughing so much as giggling. John had never seen Elizabeth get giggly excited about something before. It was really cute.

John was still holding Elizabeth when she started ordering everyone around. “Okay, everyone, listen up!” The room went silent for the first time since John walked in. “Everyone is to report to the quad for the celebration party! Dean’s orders. Classes are not canceled BUT I have no problems with professors holding them in the quad today! Peter?”

“Yes?”

“Did you send out the email to all alumni inviting them to come celebrate with us?” Elizabeth smiled at Peter, while still holding on to John.

“Yes Ma’am, and from the looks of the crowd gathering outside, it appears quite a few of them are going to join us.”

“Wonderful!! Alright everybody out!!! Go celebrate!!” Elizabeth made some shooing motions with the arm that wasn’t wrapped around John. John started to pull away but Elizabeth tightened her grip. “Not you.”

Elizabeth tugged on John’s arm and pulled him into her office. “I just want to a little peace before I get pulled in every direction, not that I mind, I’m so excited for my students, and we’ve been working so hard for this, but a little quiet time would be nice.”

Elizabeth walked over to her desk, grabbed an already open bottle of champagne, two flutes, and poured a glass for both her and John. She handed one to John. Elizabeth started to toast but John held out his hand to stop her.

“Let me. To Dean Elizabeth Weir, the best and most amazing law school Dean I know, in addition to being funny, smart, and sweet, she genuinely cares about her students, and Langford University.” John tapped his glass against Elizabeth’s and took a sip. Elizabeth smiled at John, set her glass down, and leaned against him.

John wrapped his arms around Elizabeth and kissed the top of her head. He leaned down to give her a real kiss when he heard a voice.

“Congratulations Elizabeth!! I tried to get over here earlier but I got stuck in the admin building, Kinsey was unhappy with the picture of him that was taken to go in the new alumni newsletter.” Paul Davis walked into Elizabeth’s office without looking up. When he finally did and saw John with his arms wrapped around Elizabeth he immediately stopped and turned bright red.

“Oops, sorry, leaving now, didn’t see anything, sorry again, leaving.” Paul stuttered as he started backing his way out the door. John looked down at Elizabeth and saw her face was turning about fifty shades of red.

“Davis wait, you have a horrible sense of timing, but we have to head down to the celebration anyway, so how about we all head down together?” John gave Elizabeth a quick kiss on the lips, grabbed her hand and started walking towards the office door.

John looked at Paul and Elizabeth, both of whom were still bright red and started laughing. Elizabeth took one look at the amused expression on John’s face and smacked his arm.

“Fine, I’ll stop, but you’re so cute when you blush . . . OUCH, okay stopping now, so Davis, this picture of Kinsey is it really that bad?” John smiled at Paul and Elizabeth as the three headed out the main door of the law building and into the party which was already going in full swing under the stone circle.
