Personality; Asuka, a ¼ German girl, is very intelligent and gifted, having already earned a university degree as a teenager and chosen to be an Eva pilot at a young age. With her good marks and exceptional response rates with her Unit-02 Eva early on, she takes tremendous pride in her accomplishments, and it shows in the way she carries herself among peers. It is almost impossible to ignore her presence, as she demands attention with her narcissism and her fiery temper. She gets abrasive at the threat of someone performing better than her, and she is only nice when she is secured at the top. It's easy to set her off, and much of the time she does not hint as to why she's so upset. She'll say things she doesn't mean to make herself seem stronger, to put others down, or to convince her own self of certain things. In addition, Asuka yearns to be recognized as a grown-up. Not only does she want to be acknowledged for maturity, but she prides herself on her body as well.
It may not come as a surprise, then, that Asuka has a hard time forging meaningful relationships. She is even less likely to form casual friendships with boys than with other girls. On the other hand, her greatest threats happen to be women-namely Misato, who wins the affections of her adult crush, Kaji; and Rei, her archrival as the better pilot and as the subject of Shinji's attention. She desperately yearns for affection from certain males, and her unreciprocated advances provoke reactions from belittling remarks to temper tantrums. On the same thread, she'll humiliate or slew insults at Shinji whenever he attempts to get closer to her. Asuka has a very difficult time making herself vulnerable to others. Because of traumatizing events in her childhood, Asuka conditioned herself to be strong and self-sufficient, going so far as to repress her memories. (After participating in a contact experiment with Asuka's Unit-02, her mother went insane and began to recognize a doll as her daughter instead of Asuka. Asuka eventually discovered her mother's hanging body with the decapitated doll nearby, meanwhile her father had been having an affair with another scientist.) This has a huge impact on why she is the way she is.
Towards the end of the series, Asuka fell into a catatonic state due to personal failures and being mind raped by an Angel. She has an epiphany in End of Evangelion that brings her back to life. In terms of this roleplay, the last thing Asuka remembers is experiencing a catharsis generated by a renewed love and relationship with her mother, and subsequently being eviscerated and dismembered. Although her mind rape and cathartic experience don't necessarily "cancel each other out," she'll resume her previous defensive coping mechanisms on a slightly subdued scale.

Asuka awoke with a start. Her first instinct was to gasp for breath and pat her hands over her body. It was all intact; her chest and her stomach and her arms and her face were whole. There wasn't even so much as a tear in her plugsuit. She could feel her heart beating. Her chest was rising and falling with uneven breath. Her throat was dry and sore with overwhelming information, a pain telling of life.
It was quiet, too, all around her. Everything was so muted in sound and color. Her plugsuit, normally a vibrant and passionate red, resembled the sick color of dried blood. Her fiery hair looked more like dull rust. Her eyes then followed the elegant pattern on the floor and up to the ornate decoration in this spotless room. Everything was sad and silent.
This couldn't be the afterlife, could it?
Asuka used her legs to stand with difficulty, but it didn't take too long to adjust to her own weight. Just when she was stretching her muscles, the presence of someone else startled her. She whipped around to face something humanoid, but not quite a person without a distinguished form or face. She was dressed in maid's clothing that was also indistinguishable. Asuka felt as if she was looking at her through glasses that weren't hers, but she couldn't look a way. Part of her even refused to look away.
The maid had three items in her hands, and she extended them to Asuka. They were two pieces of folded paper and a silver bracelet with a dark gem. Asuka hesitantly took them once she understood the gesture. She looked at the maid once more, and then she unfolded one of the papers. It resembled a color wheel, but the colors weren't very apparent. The other piece of paper was a letter, and she read it carefully.
She read the last part aloud: "The laughter and tears of all travellers will become strength both for you and for the greater good. Please accept the gifts of your patron deity and serve them well..? The fate of all existence rests within your capable hands." Her eyebrows furrowed. "Good luck in the Eventide! Where the hell am I?"
The maid was suddenly a deeper threat to her. It was all she could do before to even make sense of her, but now she was akin to a small monster. Life as she knew it was bad enough before, and she couldn't escape that even through death. All of a sudden her feelings didn't belong to her, anymore. Whoever this woman or thing was affiliated with brought her here to feed off of her emotions, and it sickened her.
"What does this letter even mean?" she asked scathingly, shaking the letter in the maid's direction. When the maid didn't speak, she repeated herself more forcefully, "What does this mean!?" The maid was once again silent, and Asuka felt pushed to the edge. She grabbed the maid by the arms, screaming to no avail, "Answer me, dammit!" The body didn't even shake in her grasp, and Asuka recoiled with sudden fear.
"You are now a member of the house of Baldr," the maid said, as if nothing happened.
"What in the world are you, you freak?" Asuka demanded in a trembling voice.
"The house of Baldr is your home, now. It is impossible to return to where you came from. You'll find that your lodgings have been prepared for you..." the maid continued, and Asuka had all but given up trying to talk to her anymore. She half-listened to the onslaught of new information, otherwise she was focusing on keeping her face straight.
She wasn't going to cry in front of this weirdo.
When the maid concluded her explanations and dismissed her, Asuka crumpled up the letter and stomped on it. She crumpled up the map, too, but decidedly kept it firm in her hand.
"You'll regret this. You'll regret bringing me here, and I could care less about your stupid city! I don't even care about my own world anymore, much less this hellhole! I can't even see anything! Why couldn't you just let me-!" Asuka stifled her statement, frustrated with the unprovoked maid. She shot her a menacing glare and muttered, "Why am I even bothering with you, anyway?"
Asuka turned around and headed for the exit, still stifling the weary tears welling behind her eyes.
She was so tired.
