I was having a ponderance earlier (yes, I recognise that's not a real word, but it's a good word none-the-less) and there's something I want people's opinion's on

1) Pocoyo. I'd force them. I may even dress them up in a duck outfit permanently and call them Pato. Is that so wrong? 2) It's a good idea to show them tv because it means you can do the hoovering and other necessary, child-free activities. It's also sometimes unavoidable; what with the crapness of British weather and current proliferation of paedophiles the Daily Mail tells me about, shoving them outside to "play" may not be a year-round viable solution. However, when a kid can be happily entertained with a box for an hour, I think I'm going to stock up on poster paints and other creative things. Nurture the creative! that way they turn out to be super-cool Arts students like me.. 3) Possibly very true. Still, if you're only common ground with your friends is the tv you've watched, you aren't going to be that much of an interesting individual anyway. And how much do you really respect someone who knows all the words to the "Clarissa" theme tune?
You're falling into the nostalgia rose tinted glasses sump. You forgetting how impressionable you were as a child. All today's children will view their programmes as amazing, just as my parents went on about their's. 1) I'd let my kids find their own programmes. They'd come to like the programmes I watch if they have any taste! And we create are own classic through viewing new stuff together. When they're older I'd force the west wing on them! 2) I might have three kids and do an experiment to test your idea. Nah, not really bothered any way. 3) Like your other poster. The more variety the better, it makes finding common ground all the more exciting. Oh, and I'm quite worried about there being a reality show that kids fall for. The US already has Kids Nation. Let me know when you next ponderance is up.
