One of the problems though is that environmental organizations have to pay their workers, and in the end, the actual amount they donate is pitiful. Why should I donate if I know that more of it will go to you than to making change? In general, I would much more willingly donate my time than my money, and my priorities are in different places. Right now, if I were donating to anyone, it would probably be the EFF or Black Box Voting or someone other than the ACLU who fights primarily for first and fourth amendment rights, but because of the combination of lack of money and lack of knowledge about exactly how the donations would be used, I would rather make a difference in other ways.

no organization is going to be run entirely by volunteers, at the end of day people need to pay rent and eat in order to be able to afford working full time

It's not that the US sucks, it's that people suck. The US just got into a position where it can exploit the planet more efficiently than others.

US people or people in general? i understand what you're saying, i'm just wondering if despite everything, maybe it's worth it to skip town

People in general. And, well, skipping town might be cool for other reasons, but it's probably worth having people willing to keep up a fight where it matters... Don't leave the country for the fascists.
