my mom said that the men of my family have breasts, and that it came from my dad's side. i thought she was making it up, and said he may because he's kind of fat. and then she told me that kids used to make fun of my brother when he was in elementary school. that made me sad. i didnt want him to suffer through a childhood like mine, and i thought ( Read more... )

I don't like how people, especially adults, who are mean for any reason. With kids....well, I'm not sure what you do with kids.

I don't know if this is interesting or not, but: cleft lips and female mustaches don't bother me, but I wouldn't want to date someone with one, you know? And I think most people wouldn't. So the person in question is still going to end up having to make an effort to get the trait "fixed".

it DOES bother you. how else could you justify the fact that you wouldnt want to date someone with one?

Now wait a minute. There are a lot of people I'm friends with, who I think are cool, but who I wouldn't want to date. Don't you have male friends you would never want to date?

yeah, but it's not because of their physical appearances. i choose not to date people based on personality traits, not physical traits.

actually cleft lips can be construed as a real problem, especially if it interferes with breathing/speech/eating patterns.

that is true. sorry i didnt say this in my post, but i was referring to people who were born with cleft lips and had surgery to help them function normally. the surgeries often leave scars and asymmetry. one of my good friends was born with a cleft lip, and even though she had surgery her lip and bottom of her nose are asymmetric and there is a visible scar. she's a great person, but it seems like she is often wrongly judged based on her physical appearance. it makes me sad when i hear people call her ugly or plain because they dont know anything about her. i think she is going to end up getting plastic surgery though
