I don't know what prompted me to do this; other than my undying love for her. It kind of just happened over the period of a week, hearing different songs and thinking of Audrey while they played. I threw them all into a playlist together, and then zipped 'em, made a half decent cover, and then a back cover, and realized I'd unintentionally made a fan mix. So then I decided to explain the lyrics and well. Here it is.

1: Oh No!
Marina & The Diamonds
"Don't do love, don't do friends / I'm only after success, don't need a relationship / I'll never soften my grip / I know exactly what I want and who I want to be / I'm now becoming my own self-fulfilled prophecy."
This is very much Audrey, in the sense of who she is as a person, what she'll do to get to where she wants to be. She's left her friends and family to get to where she is, she made her own future and she's following her own dreams. She knows where's she headed and what she wants; and this song is all about that.
2: Islands/Love The Way You lie
The Pretty Reckless
"I don't have to leave anymore / What I have is right here / Spend my nights and days before / Searching the world for what's right here / If you stand there and watch me burn / It's alright because I like the way it hurts."
Taylor Momsen's voice in this song just screams 'Audrey.' She's done running, this is where she wants to be. I like the mashup up with Love The Way You Lie, because from Audrey's point of view it's like the haters. It's about the people that haven't been there for her, she doesn't care if they hate her because either way; she gets the attention.
3: She's A Lady
Forever The Sickest Kids
"I'm in love with the girl I hate / She enjoys pointing out everything bad about me / She's a backseat driver / A drama provider / An instant update of the world / She's a first class liar / A constant forgetter / (She's attractive but bitter) / Did you scream enough to make her cry? / She's a lady and ladies shouldn't be messed with."
This reminds me of an earlier Audrey, with her hot pink and black here, ripped fishnets and leather jackets. She was cynical and pessimistic with a 'fuck the world' attitude and an expression of casual disinterest she's perfected to an art. But behind that cold, hard exterior, there's a reason for why she's like that. But with Audrey, you're not going to find it. She'll hold her head high, flip you the finger and call herself a lady.
4: Make Me Wanna Die
The Pretty Reckless
"Take me / I'm alive / Never was a girl with a wicked mind / I'll never be good enough / You make me wanna die / Taste me drink my soul / Show me all the things that I shouldn't know."
When everyone said Audrey wouldn't make it; when she was just a teenage scene kid who dated the singer in a band. When she was younger and striving for attention and getting it in the form of haters and people who said she wouldn't get anywhere.
5: Never Say Never
The Fray
"There's some things we don't talk about / Rather do without / And just hold the smile / Falling in and out of love / Ashamed and proud of / Together all the while / Picture you're the queen of everything / As far as the eye can see / Under your command."
This is totally the Brendon Urie era. I loved these two together, and I still ship them completely, and secretly hope one day they'll meet up again at a vegan cafe and fall in love. Their relationship, as short lived as it was, seemed to be made up of late nights and alcohol; squished on couches with Jac and Ryan. Brendon was totally smitten with Audrey, and I think as much as she slagged him off when it was over, she really cared about Brendon. They were like five year olds together, and it made them adorable.
6: Portions For Foxes
Rilo Kiley
"There's blood in my mouth 'cause I've been biting my tongue all week / I keep on talkin' trash but I never say anything / Baby I'm bad news / I'm just bad news, bad news, bad news / And it's bad news / I don't blame you / I do the same thing / I get lonely too."
Her Trashy Life era with Zui. Messy and uncontrolled and troublesome. She was, for all intents and purposes, Trouble with a Captial T. She was the kind of girl your mother warned you to stay away from, told you not to turn out like that. She was the kind of girl that kissed and ran before she could hear the repurcussions of her actions.
7: What I Say And What I Mean
The Like
"Walking from the past / But I don't think I've said my goodbyes / Sometimes I just find / That they keep sneaking up from behind / Closing up the wounds / Never going back and forth / I'm only going forward / That's what I keep saying."
I liken this to the relationship Jac and Audrey had, back when they were BFF drinking watermelon vodka and taking pictures of themselves 24/7. Audrey walked away from Jac in the end, but deep down I believe she misses her, and Jac in turn misses Audrey. They've both posted emotional bits and pieces around the same time, walked on eggshells around each other, avoided and made second hand comments. One day these two are going to realise how much they need each other. <3
8: Runaway
The Earlybirds
"When the lights go out / and we'll go sing all your prayers / It's colder than love but too hard to forget / Maybe enough is enough / Before you tear it apart / Can you see how it's done / Can you see through my heart? / Run away now / Run away from it all / I can't see you now / I'm not alone / I'm just trying to get my head around your thoughts / Maybe it's come to and end./
A general look at Audrey's mindset. She's got so many walls around her it's hard to break through. She's described herself as asexual, saying she's hardly ever been attracted to people, that the only people she has liked have been few and far between. One day though, someone's going to come along and break through those walls; I'd like think she wants that.
9: Dog Days Are Over
Florence + The Machine
"Happiness / Hit her / Like a train on a track / Coming towards her / Stuck still / No turning back / She hid around corners / And she hid under beds / She killed it with kisses and from it she fled / With every bubble she sank with a drink / And washed it away down the kitchen sink / Leave all your love and your longing behind / You can't carry it with you / If you want to survive."
Audrey in a nutsheeeeell. She's self destructive. She's run from everyone and everything before she can get attached. She's gotten to where she is today by leaving her friends and family, but taking herself and going. Even when she was happy, when things were going right, it was almost as if to Audrey it was wrong. So she had to break ties before she'd get hurt.
10: Can't Be Tamed
Miley Cyrus
"For those who don't know me / I can get a bit crazy / Have to get my way 24 hours a day / They try to change me but they realize they can't / And every tomorrow is a day I never planned / I'm like a puzzle but all of my pieces are jagged / I wanna fly / I wanna drive / I wanna go / I wanna be a part of something I don't know / And if you try to hold me back / I might explode / I'm not a trick you play / I'm wired a different way / I'm not a mistake / I'm not a fake / It's set in my DNA / I can't be tamed."
The message is very clear. Audrey really can't be tamed. She's never changed herself for anyone. She's stayed true to herself and what she believes in. She's told haters to suck it, and held her head high. She's been called fake, ridiculous, stupid, unimaginative, everything under the sun. She's brushed it off and said she is who she is, and she's not going to change that.
11: Kids
MGMT
"You were a child / Crawlin' on your knees toward it / Makin' mama so proud / But your voice was too loud / We like to watch you laughing / You pick the insects off plants / No time to think of consequences / Control yourself / Take only what you need from it / Memories fade / Like looking through a fogged mirror / Decision to decisions are made and not bought / But I thought / This wouldn't hurt a lot / I guess not."
Audrey started for what she wanted from an early age, her first modelling photo she took with her mother at her side. She was however, rash and impulsive, and she did a lot of things without thinking. She could be selfish and cold and took more than she needed in fear she wouldn't get enough. She shuts out bits of her past and compartmentalizes.
12: Speechless
Lady Gaga
"Could we fix you if you broke?/ And is your punch line just a joke? / You popped my heart seams / On my bubble dreams / And I know that it’s complicated / But I’m a loser in love / So baby raise a glass to mend / All the broken hearts / Of all my wrecked up friends /
Audrey had far more downs as a teenager than a lot of people. She's hardened from that, but she has her fair share of sad stories about love to share. (Even though we all know she won't be sharing any time soon.)
13: Young Blood
The Naked & Famous
"We’re only young and naive still / We require certain skills / The mood it changes like the wind / Hard to control when it begins / The bittersweet between my teeth / Trying to find the in-betweens / Fall back in love eventually / Can’t help myself but count the flaws / Claw my way out through these walls / One temporary escape / Feel it start to permeate."
Audrey.
