I must admit that I've been a bit pissed off with Elena since, well, the beginning of season 3. That in itself annoys me because I like Elena and I always have - but in 3x14 I was reduced to yelling obscenities at the tv almost every time Elena was on screen. This fic has helped me understand Elena's motivations a bit more, and I'm definitely feeling a lot more sympathetic towards her now. BUT ELENA STILL SHOULDN'T HAVE TRIED TO KISS STEFAN ON THE PORCH, he was still being a dick to her and everyone else, AND IT'S THE DELENA SPECIAL PLACE. <3

Exactly. I wish for something very like this to happen.

Even though I've been frustrated at times, the writers do seem to have a good plan going, and I generally feel good about the direction of the show. Williamson managed the Dawson's Creek love triangle pretty adroitly (not to mention he was one of the first to show a gay pairing on tv, and otherwise go "out of the box", and realistically portray sexual relationships when it was riskier to do so), so I have some confidence that he's willing to go against the norm sometimes and surprise his audience in a good way. Maybe we'll luck out and he'll be the first to have the guts to end a show with a real threesome, which would truly be the best way to resolve things, to my mind.

I very much agree with your views on the threesome, and the writers do seem to be handling the triangles/squares/dodecahedrons on this show quite well. However, I doubt that - between the network and Plec's comment that a threesome with two brothers would be "sick" - the fans will have that particular wish granted. Maybe a platonic menage-a-trois?

Oh, wow. I've always loved your writing, and of course Damon/Elena/Stefan is my OT3, but just... wow. I'm really glad to see someone else who isn't hating Elena, who understands that she's a teenage girl in a very confusing position (because honestly, how many people knew exactly what they wanted in a relationship at 18?). It's nice to get a glimpse of what must be going on in the characters' heads at this point in the season. And I do think this is something that NEEDS to happen in canon - even if we only get the platonic version because network tv doesn't allow atypical romances (or "sexual deviancy") except in villains. Honestly, all three characters are no doubt desperately confused, and I think the conversation you've outlined would be a good place for them to start getting back on track

Even though I'm usually not a big fan of Elena, I love the way you portrayed her. Your vision of her makes her more interesting than I usually found her in the show. I love your writing and the dynamics of their threeway relationship. Lovely ending. :)
