totally feel you on the hip thing. i remember it from when i was writing the book ... 8+ hours at work in chair, followed by 8+ hours at home in chair, every day. you should treat yourself to a hot bubble bath and a deep tissue massage when school is finally over!

With regard to deferring loans - usually they're automatically deferred for 6 mo., do you need to defer them further? If so, nearly all student loan providers have on their websites a form for "hardship deferment" in which you tell them you're poor and they agree to suspend payments (but not interest from accruing) for a period of time. I did it a couple of times after I initially graduated college. Have you consolidated?

As far as the loans, one of mine auto-deferred as far as I can tell (thank you, Key Bank) but I've already gotten a coupon book from Sallie Mae with the first payment due next week (due the day after I finish finals, thanks Sallie). I know I need to fill out paperwork, its just the form that the school gave me literally makes no sense. (Which is just sad b/c I went to the "financial aid seminar" and paid attention and everything.) Bah, you're right though -- I have on my infinity-sized list of things to do "call the loan vendors" to see if I can make more sense of it that way. And 'no' on the consolidation, from what I can tell, it wouldn't help my situation the way I'm set up. Egads this crap is craptastic.
Meanwhile, I'll just get back to cramming for Remedies and 'Law of Health Care Finance while being only slightly jealous of you being home with your Monster on a beautiful Portland Saturday. :P
