The woes of the bourgeoisie

So I recently acquired a very good and reasonably expensive laptop. I've had it for about three days now and it has been working flawlessly -- so far. But of course there is a problem. You see, the screen on this laptop is very good; it has a very high resolution. In fact, the resolution is so high that maximizing windows is so wasteful that an ( Read more... )

Ah, I have such a program on my desktop. It's called Filebox Extender - it also lets you "bookmark" whatever your most-accessed folders are, so you can just click on its "link" and go there directly, instead of having to drill down in Explorer, or any time you want to attach something in an email, etc.

Love this little thing. I'm sure it's saved me hours of annoying repetitive clicking.

I also know that this "pinning" feature is available in other programs, one of which came with my Acer laptop from work. I forget what that program is called though, but it's something inherent to Acer and therefore may not be free to download.

I don't know of any others, though I'm sure they also include it.

Aha! I was about 90% certain that I saw that pin thing on your laptop and now I know what it is. Unfortunately, I just tried Filebox Extender and its pinning button doesn't actually prevent the window from being moved or resized. All it does is make the window always on top, which is nice but not something I'm looking for at this time.

I guess I'll just have to get used to unresized, volatile windows. It's not as big of a problem since I got a mouse now, but still.

Thanks for the help either way!
