With Game of Thrones out of the way for the rest of the summer, I decided to try watching True Blood.  A friend recommended it to me, so I gave it a try.  And let me tell you -

And I'm just the exact opposite. I've never read any of the Sookie books, but I love the show. I'd love to read what your impression of the show is having read the books. :)

I haven't seen past season one of Trueblood so I can't read most of your post BUT as for Game of Thrones- the books are so much better. I can't even watch the show. Only two or three characters actually look the way they are supposed to and it bugs the ever loving shit out of me. Plus, the actors really cannot translate all the minute details of the characters thoughts and actions. The scenery of the show is great, but the rest really falls flat for me.
