These heroes are always in my thoughts and prayers...may Creation see their brave works and help to keep them safe.
My band used to play to send the ships from GreenPeace out to fight the whalers and Dr. Paul Spong is still a beloved mentor. I pray that all those who fight for justice for All Our Relations get supported. We know that something must die for someone to eat...but this is unnecessary to live.
The young warriors in Neah Bay thought they needed to kill a whale to bring back their honour...and the Grandmothers cried, for they knew there would've been more honour in counting coup...thanking the whale for offering itself, should the people need...but they don't. The whale caught by these misguided young warriors.....rotted. Tell me, where is their honour? I ask the Creator to bless all those who put their lives on the line for their relations. Just like Maya, I'm sending prayers for you. What I'm glad is that this has made world news and exposed the illegal whale hunting. But I know it's awful and dangerous and in its own sense a war. Many blessings, and many prayers for the safely of your cousin and for all involved.
