question: does it bother you that you can't hear other people who might be about to run into you? (or do you avoid this problem by always being the fastest person on the hill?)

I looked at the sound equipped helmets, but decided safety was an issue. Since then, I've always been keenly aware that I do indeed use my sense of hearing a LOT to avoid impacts with various other travellers-o-mountain..

It's a little from column A, a little from column B.

Because the headphones are held in place by the chinstrap you don't need them to be up very high at all to hear the music, and I found it easy to hear people over them. I will admit that I was a lot more cautious entering a trail than I normally am though - really checked uphill from me a lot more often than I normally do.

That and yeah, being overtaken happens but not often : )

I haven't been out on the hard-plate this year, been focusing on the soft-plate skills.

Next year I'll see if I can source some new boots from the US though and get some time on the speed-stick in : )
