my childhood dream of becoming a hot librarian may be about to come true

For a moment I had a very odd mental image. But I figure you're not referring to the pencil skirt+blouse kind of hot librarian...

Good luck though!! That would be an awesome job.

Alas, no. I don't tend to name places I'm looking for work on public forums - call me paranoid, but if I was hiring someone? I'd make at least some effort to see if they're on the standard social networks.

This is also why I don't tend to bitch about work that much : )

wOOt! Being enthusiastic about work is da bomb! Do you have an MA in Library or did you come to Info Mgmt some other way?

(B) Other way, and it's not a sure thing.

Basically, I've just finished contracting at a government department as a desktop support specialist, and while there impressed the manager of information services enough that she asked if I'd be interested in applying for a job with them - I don't have the job description yet, but from what I understand it'll be supporting and developing their document management systems.

I have 0 experience at information management outside of being head librarian at school, so I'm a long way from certain I'll get the position - but the fact that I've been asked to apply, along with her knowing one of my references personally, means I'm at least in with a chance.

And hey, it'd look great on the CV : )
