Gaming Laptops!

So, with the prospect of employment looking quite good my mind turns once again to thoughts of toys. Specifically, a gaming laptop to replace my aging Asus A8JN.

At the moment, there are 3 leading contenders

Dell Studio XPS 16. Cheap for what it delivers, and probably the leading contender at this time. Costs around $2400 NZ specced as I'd ( Read more... )

When I owned an IT company that made it's money fixing Windows networks, all my techs used Mac Laptops. Even when running Windows, the machines worked faster and more reliably than the windows native machines.

I'm with danjite - most of the techs I've worked with prefer to run mac laptops with windows on top - faster and more reliable ;> (even in testing software).

Windows 7 runs pretty well on the macbook pro.....
I need to try out Steam stuff on it still.

Also: that Toshiba is sinfully ugly.
Also also: the 15" MBP still has the odd slowdown in new WoW content on the 15", so the 17" would probably be a bit worse for that.

The mac fanboy in me says buy the mbp. But really you buy them for the OS/aesthetic/build, and that Dell is good value for money.
Otoh you can dual-boot the mac to have both oses (or triple boot with linux if you're that way inclined).
