yay for writing this up!

can you link to the Act 2000 website so we know what the competition is?

A possible thought (though it's not designed for this): what about the "Organizer's Database"? It's windows-only, but it is being supported.

i'd think that there's better out there, and I'd be surprised if there wasn't a solution close to what you need in Linux. what's the status on Chandler?

I added the link above. As for Chandler -- I don't think that includes contact management, just the calendar function. I need those notes, trust me!

Organizer's Database is pretty good, though I haven't looked at the most recent release, but doesn't have the calendar function. And no dated notes, I don't think.

a useful keyword seems to be "CRM" but I'm not convinced that they're the right solutions for you. A little browsing google results for that keyword might be worthwhile though.

http://sourcetapcrm.sourceforge.net/ ?

obviously, the main developers would like to make this into a business. But you're a non-commercial use, surely!

I could definitely use a program like this to track my work, auditions , submissions etc..
the only software that does that for theatre is like 200 dollars and windows and mac only.
I 'd like to go linux too but with my ipod, my camera and well - having to use word for my work... .it's difficult to switch !
