Group Prenatal Care

Feb 23, 2007 18:15

um, "fun" isn't quite the right word.

I'm glad that you're participating and helping to create a community of support and trust like that. That's really cool.

You can see why this is the piece of my clinical job that I am still hanging on to!

So cool that they returned and so cool that they were able to re-make connections. I can imagine someone who had a baby in November or December not quite being able to get somewhere on time! I can also imagine that women with 4 month olds are really ready for connections. It's good to hear about this kind of reunion.

i can vouch for the really wanting to connect at this time -- although this is when the wee ones become really, really entertaining!

good group support is so very important, and finding the right group (and moderator) is so key. i know you'll be sorely missed, la patera!

I'll still be doing groups. This is the piece of my clinical job that I've kept. Just gave up the clinic which can be rewarding, but in a totally different way. Actually the clinic provides more direct rewards -- the one on one makes the clinician feel more important. But the group work is more satisfying because I can see the women supporting each other and giving to the group rather than just me doing the giving. I am hoping that this group will find a way to continue without the structure of the hospital. Ideally, they would move seamlessly into group pediatric well care and maternal family planning visits, but we're no where near able to facilitate that as yet ( ... )

Yes, the group model of care is really special. For more info, take a look at http://centeringpregnancy.org I wish it were more widespread ( ... )
