So sad.

My office is right next to the 'breakroom' in our office. I just overheard two of my co-workers (both early-to-mid 20s) discussing how they were both starting to get into Gossip Girl and how great it is.

Why is it that no one ever heard of the CW or 'discovered' the critically acclaimed hidden gem that was Veronica Mars ? Why do I still get a ( Read more... )

I don't get why most people haven't heard of VM, but Gossip Girl is fun and silly.

Supernatural is a niche show, I think. If you don't like the idea of things that go bump in the night, it's not for you.

I didn't mention this last night, but if you want to get really technical, you can have pop on Sundays (those aren't part of the 40 days for Lent.)

Thanks for the heads up about Sundays, I'd forgotten about that.

Oh, yeah, and I amended my Lent resolution. Instead of giving up pop (because I was going crazy by Thurs. night) I'm trying to drink 8 glasses of water a day. So far I've only had one soda a day since, which is a very big change for me. But, yeah -- totally failed at the giving up pop thing.

Another question...you were telling me that JDoh recorded the outgoing message on your friend's machine...what does it say again?

The loophole always made me happy when I actually gave up something for Lent.

Ah, that's a good resolution, too.

It goes like this: "Hey, you missed [friend's name], you got Logan Echolls instead. You should watch S1 of Veronica Mars, because I'm in it, homes."

I really do need to record it one day for everyone to listen to.

Yeah, I don't get that either. I mean, I enjoy Gossip Girl, but it's certainly not better than Veronica Mars was, or SPN for that matter. Maybe it's because people knew of the books and are checking it out because of that?

I guess I need to remember that the gals that were talking about the show were super into Sex & The City, and this is kind of like a junior version of that -- upper east side elite with amazing clothes and lots of different relationship troubles.

I just can't understand why my conversion efforts to both of MY show are always futile. Kickass PI with a taser, a hot psycho boyfriend and lots of snarky, well written dialogue...two hotass brothers hunting urban legends while they search for their equally hotass dad in a hotass car? I mean...what's not to love? *scratches head*

I know. I felt the same way when I was at the doctor's office a while ago. I met a couple who said they were naming their son Logan and when I mentioned I loved that name but my DH wouldn't let me pick b/c he thought I was in love w/Logan Echolls of VM, they just looked at me like, "Veronica What?"

re: Mtn Dew. Go you--keeping with the sacrifice. I gave in and had a Sprite by 11 a.m. I am now trying to figure up what I can give up now.

Go you--keeping with the sacrifice.

Heh...well...

I abandoned amended my lenten resolution -- instead of giving up pop completely, I'm really trying to drink 8 glasses of water a day. In the last two days, since changing it up, I've only had one pop each day -- which, in and of itself, is a huge improvement for me.

So what else have you given up? Heck, I think the sleep you're ALREADY giving up is plenty of sacrifice. I really think you're good. :)

DUDE, I just found the most interesting thing. You know your friend who has the little girl that masturbates (kinda without realizing that that is what she's doing?)

But here is the original letter: http://www.slate.com/id/2162293/

I thought it was fascinating...

I will forward that onto my friend. But that is exactly how they have handled it -- as a private thing that she needs to do in the privacy of her own room. So it's good that they seem to be handling it in the right way.

the reactions she got to the letter were reeealllly interesting. "Positively sick" was my favorite. ;)
