Darwinism is a doctrine in science class, and the past generations of youth have grown up thinking it is fact, or that there are no errors with it, when there are huge gaping holes in it.
It's the most legitimate atheist creation theory ever, but it isn't perfect. I think you're exactly right. If scientists aren't willing to re-assess a theory and come up with a better one, it has become doctrine. Science shouldn't be doctrine.
