I know it's not the same as a physical book, but the text is out of copyright so you can get the entire text from Project Gutenberg for free. Unfortunately, stuff that is freely available doesn't make a good gift. :-P

Yeah I saw that page when I was searching for the book, but I don't think I could ever read a whole book online. I rather like the whole curling up in a chair thing, and even with a laptop, it would not the same...

Is true. I wouldn't have considered it before I got my current phone, which has an ebook reader installed. Now, I have no problems putting a text file like that on my phone and reading it one page at a time in bed. Technology spoils me. :-)
