so when I set out wrapped in the tattered remnants of personal dignity to watch season 8 of american idol  to satisfy the curiosity I had about all the fuss surrounding it, why, why in the name of all that is good and informative did no one mention that this show is a vehicle used by ryan seacrest and simon cowell to flirt with one another?
