Wow did this past year go quickly! It seems like yesterday that we were all posting our year in review posts of 2009.

My 2010 started out with a bang and I was incredibly productive for the first 6 months or so. Then I got frustrated about my apartment not selling and all my stuff being packed away. In the second half of 2010 I concentrated on ( Read more... )

I have to keep reminding myself that you do this for a living, else my inferiority complex would get away from me.

Good show!

Thank you!

Oh gosh, I do hope this post does not come across as bragging or being competitive! I am so not like that! I post these posts to make myself feel better.. to feel that despite how lazy I can be I accomplished something in the past year and can get quite a bit done when I actually work hard. I don't want to make anyone feel bad in any way.

No, you don't come off that way at all! It's more me looking at your list, and then at my pile of half finished projects and realizing that if I wanted to, I really could get a lot more sewing done in a year.

*Iz off to work on New Year's Resolutions*

Well done you!

I hope you do your mourning, I'll be doing one in 2011 too for reenactment... :)... I'm thinking I should probably do a list as well - although I think it'll scare me how much I've done!

Thank you. I am quite anxious to start the mourning gown and dolman since I have all the materials gathered and ready. I just have to finish a few things I have committed to first.

You should make your list. I find it so encouraging when I do mine. I can be so lazy and uninspired at times and the making of the list makes me feel that not only did I accomplish something in the past year but image how much more I can do if I try harder.

I like the neat look of the English kirtle :-))

If I may ask - what does the pattern of your tailed caps look like? I love this style, it's so different to what we usually wear around here.

There is a pattern very similar to the one I made on page 199 of The Medieval Tailor's Assistant. I played around with the angle of the tails a bit though.

Ah OK, I know what pattern it is.
I made Hobbit once a coif with that pattern, but she looked more like a Dutch milkmaid when wearing it.

I too looked like a Dutch girl with the first one:

Then, determined to get it right, I made a few mock-ups and altered the size of the main part as well as the angle of the tails to get to one that I think looks more right.
