The homemade laundry soap I made the other day was definitely cheaper than a comparable amount of commercial detergent would have been.

I'll have to investigate castile soap further and try vinegar as fabric softener again... it would definitely be cheaper!

Ooh, I should start doing the vinegar fabric softening again!

I've found that baking soda and lemon juice work really well for bathtub grime. I sprinkle the soda, and squirt the lemon juice over it- it fizzes delightfully, and the grime comes off so easily. (I use a Norwex cloth to wipe it with)

Natural cleaning products ROCK!

This is old, but I've saved it for future reference. :) Do you still stand by all of these natural products? Have you discontinued use of any of these, in light of something better?

Yup! They are still my preference. The only thing that has changed is a new laundry soap recipe because my liquid castile soap increased in price and took away from the economy of using it. I can share the new recipe if you like.

It's a little work to make, but I feel like the savings is worth it. Plus, I just do the prep work while watching a movie.

Powdered Laundry Soap

2 cups soap flakes (1 bar Kirk’s soap, grated)
2 cups washing soda

I use Kirk's Natural Fragrance Free Castile Bar Soap: http://www.vitacost.com/Kirks-Natural-Fragrance-Free-Castile-Soap

People say you can use any type of bar soap, but I wanted a plain bar soap without any extra ingredients. Kirk's Fragrance Free fit the bill - plus it is a good price.
