A great quote I just ran across...!!!!!!!!!

Siobhan Faley (Bananarama, Shakespeare's Sister):  "I've tended to avoid meeting my heroes.  They aren't necessarily the nicest people anyway.  The exception was George Harrison, one of the loveliest men I've ever met."

It just validates and reinforces the kind of person I believe George to have been! :)

I would like to think so, too. I think George is the one out of all of them for some reason that I find people either have good things to say about or they don't..it's kinda "hit or miss". With Paul, most tend to be pretty consistent ('He's GREAT!')..that sorta thing..with John some people seem to be pretty consistent there, too ('He's a prick!')..and Ringo..if they're not ignoring him, altogether..they're considering him the greatest drummer that ever lived..and George?..well..he's sort of an enigma, I think, to some people..so I'll hear mixed things....but I believe all the boys were beautiful and sweet and loving and kind, just all in their own way..each having their own very unique personalities..just like we all do. It's no more fair to call George out for being "bitchy" if he's had an "off" day anymore than it's fair for people to call John a "prick" (or worse, and they do) because his deep inner pain caused him to act out, sometimes. A former friend once told me flat out that she didn't like George. She thought he was "mean".. ( ... )

Oh, and forgot to ask...did you like the boys in that Playboy interview? They were so fun, just goofing off and being themselves. Lots of great lines in that article.

Yeah...Geoff Emerick said he never warmed up to George, and it does taint the way he portrays George in the book, and John and Ringo are ill-treated as well. About George, Emerick does admit that while he wasn't close to him, the other employees found him to be very kind and generous, so at least he does add that, I guess he didn't have to even include that observation in the book, but he did. I hope you enjoy "The Beatles in Cleveland" it was kind of short. I just read Barry Tashian's book about The Beatles Final Tour, he was in the Remains, one of the back-up bands. I liked Barry's book because on the tour he got quite close to George, so there's mostly George in the book! There may not be much for fans of the others, though. I do wish a huge, well-written book on the Beatles would come out, a true but fair accurate appraisal of them. Sometimes I wish I had time to gather sources and just compile my own book about George, lol!
