I thought of you, immediately. Thank you for posting and letting me know that you are not involved in the collapse. I know you are from St. Paul, but I don't know how the layout goes, so I was immediately scared for you.

(((hugs))) I'm so glad you're okay.

Thank you sweetheart larakatya August 2 2007, 17:16:55 UTC
While it is a bridge I use regularly, not on this particular day. Thanks for the love! I've also been thinking of you - happy to read updates about your ongoing surgical journey. (PS - put me on your plastics filter). I don't post or even reply much right now, but I check in and catch up on my LJ friends at least weekly.

Sending you love right back,
~Lara

When I saw the news this morning I was all fretty about you and your panda and your other loved ones. Thank you for posting so that I know you're okay. I look at this and remember last year when a huge chunk of concrete fell out of the structure of a bride here and on to the road under it just minutes after I'd driven by. It did hit a car, but not the part that contained passengers. I thought that was bad, but a whole collapse?!??!?! Horrible. My heart goes out to those folks and their loved ones.

I'm fine. We debriefed in my Human Sexuality small group today first thing. One of my colleagues' daughter and her boyfriend were on a very nearby bridge - and as he is a lifeguard he assisted in the early rescuing of people. It's thick in the air right now here - we seem to breathe it. People are talking about it in a million different ways. It is really quite devastating for the city as it is one of the major throughfares through to downtown (in addition to the horrific images, trauma and loss of life.) They cancelled a baseball game because "traffic" would be too intense to deal with (Twins or Dome traffic in general makes rush hour miserable) - but I immediately thought to myself - umm. . .so that takes care of today. . . how are they going to deal with it every other day until a new bridge is built? I've been driving under bridges with a skip in my heartbeat ( ... )

I know how you hate bridges anyway. . .
And I know your luck. . .

And I know you are important to me, and that I wouldn't want anything like that to happen to you.

With love
