Astrid is unique; it has personality behind it. Nora is pretty, too, but it's not very memorable.

if i have a girl, her name will be Veda (pronounced "vay-duh")

i just love it, always have, and mike now talks about "when little veda is running around...." "i can't wait to call her, 'darth veda'"

Our neighbours at the lake have a son who has a daughter named Kada pronounced the same way except with a kay intead of a vay. I've always thought that was a pretty name as well.

Ah! I thought Astrid sounded familiar! It was the name of a character in a British TV show. The name reminded me of stars and it took me all day to figure out why. Beautiful goddess and stars... how gorgeous and empowered is that?

We got it from White Oleander, actually. Not the happiest movie, but the name stuck with us.
