Manny and I sat down and did the budget last weekend. We were able to cut over $400 a month, mostly from Manny's commute. He drives downtown which is about 30 miles each way and cost us roughly $60 a week in gas. He also has to pay $65 a month to park in the garage at work. I think budgeting is JUST like being on diet. You hit that right on the head.

I'm so glad things are looking up. With any luck, next year will be better for everyone with a new administration.

It's totally like being on a diet. Unfortunately, I am falling off the darn diet but at least the budget is on track!

It sounds like you guys are on the right track. I love knowing couples who sit down and find a way to make things work - says alot about your ability to communicate and work toward a common goal. :)

Way to go L! It is so hard to sit down & work all these things out & so hard to stick to a budget but you sound like you are doing so well with it!!!! Kudos for leaving Target in under $20, I am not laughing at all. We are in the same boat here, it is important to us that I am home & involved in the kids days so we have to sacrifice some of the other stuff, I know someday we wil be so glad that we were able to make this work, you know? Keep up the good work.

It is so hard to sit down and talk money without pointing fingers and blaming. It is important that I am home with the kids but as they get older I do want to find something for me to bring in some cash. Now if I found a six figure job then I would not hesitate to take it!

I hit Target yesterday to do my grocery run for the week and got out for under $85. My budget is $100 so I am pretty psyched. :)
