Crazy Germans

I swear I just don't understand Manny's family.  I don't know if it is because they are German but they always come off so rude and condescending.  Manny had been sending e-mails out to the family while Leo was in the hospital and his cousin just replied yesterday.  Here is what he had to say.  Manny translated it into English so grammatically ( Read more... )

I give Amelia ibuprofen all the time. What happened to Leo was in no way your fault. I'm sure your ped would have recommended motrin for pain or fever. I'm not even sure why motrin isn't approved for under 6 mos. Dr. Sears says it's ok down to 2 mos. Anyway, hopefully it was the language barrier and not plain rudeness on the part of Manny's cousin. I'm planning on giving Phoebe motrin tonight because her teething pain is so bad that she's not sleeping, even for naps. She's 9 days shy of 6 months, and I'm going to throw caution to the wind and try it. Fingers crossed she won't react like Leo did. That must have been so scary.

Yeah, I'd call that supremely rude. How the hell is commentary like that going to help any parent? It's not like you don't already feel sick about what happened to Leo.

Anyway, I've never heard of anyone not thinking it's okay to give Motrin to a one year old. I think the reasons not to give it before six months is that it can cause stomach upset.
