Was a huge amount of fun. I hadn't done a Maelstrom player event before and therefore wasn't certain that there would be enough to keep everyone entertained for the day. I was very pleased to say that my fears were groundless and I had an absolute blast.
There was something very relaxing and liberating to be at a social event where armour and weapons were totally unnecessary and it led to a different mentality, not the least of which was on how to address my officers all of whom had metamorphed into well dressed (and in the female cases) quite beautiful women. Rheinfelden struggled to refer to Helena as Captain Schmidt, but calling her Helena didn't seem to work either. It was a lot of fun.
The quality of the roleplay from everyone with whom I interacted was of the highest class and the day flew past. A couple of highlights which will live with me for quite some time include the following snippets;
Ansellina (the bride) "My dear Rheinfelden, can I introduce you to my ward, Gaelle. She is new to these lands and young and naive. Would you take her under your care and ensure that she is not taken advantage of by the wrong sort of man?"
Rheinfelden. "Be my pleasure ma'am. Can I just ask who you consider to be the wrong sort of man?"
Ansellina. "Being blunt, your men."
And lastly the whole dance card issue. Never has one Mokosh felt so put upon as during the 5 minutes after the dance cards were handed out. It is highly unlikely that Rheinfelden will ever waltz again.....
So my thanks to one and all who attended and my respect and gratitude to the organisers and crew who did a first hand job.
Oh yes, lastly many thanks to Orev for getting the Saki - it was much appreciated.
