I wonder if the soon-to-be-ex-employer hadn't cottoned on to the fact that actually you *could* just go out there and get another job and were assuming that you'd be grovelling to stay for as long as they'd let you. If they aren't loyal to their staff then they shouldn't expect their staff to stick around. Pillocks!
