Keep in mind that I'm not as knowledgeable about the Pirates canon as you are so maybe my opinion doesn't matter but anyway. I thought everyone's characterizations were really well done, personally. The wit and the dialogue and the different reactions and everything sakdfhasdgafl IT'S WHY I LOVE PIRATES and I like that it was here :) the opening scene with Jack and Gibbs in part 1 is my favvvorite, because it's so them
Jack continues to be amazing.
And idk just the way that you brought all this supernatural stuff against the personal lives is cool. And how there's plenty of laughter and teasing and talking against the backdrop of personal problems and unhappiness, maybe I'm just imagining it but I liked the feel of the fic, you know?
AND THE JACK AND WILL STUFF. SO MANY FEELINGS. BECAUSE THIS IS HOW IT WOULD HAPPEN.
I feel a little bad because you word-vomited for my fic and I don't have many words to vomit back at you :( but yeah THIS WAS COOL
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And I am relieved to hear that you think the characterizations are done well. I am always concerned about that but in this case I was mostly worried about Jack; it is so important to me that he isn't out of character but that is easier said than done. That being said, his interactions with the others were loads of fun to write because you pretty much have a free ticket for him to be completely ridiculous in serious conversations.
I definitely enjoy the supernatural things brought into canon because it leaves a lot of possibility for fic without it seeming out of place. So between that and my obsession with the ocean I think I had a little too much fun with the rolling sea imagery.
JACK AND WILL FTW! Just saying.
I miss Will in Pirates.
That scene from part I is one of my favorites, too. I love Jack and Gibbs.
No word vomit necessary! I'm just happy this was back in fandoms we both follow land.
Exactly - Jack's one of those characters that's so iconic that it can be hard to explore his character without going OOC. But he is delightfully inappropriate here, so :)
I MISS WILL IN PIRATES AS WELL DDD8
Huzzah for fandoms-we-both-follow-land. We need to take more vacations there.
