Now that I'm back into the groove...

How odd... I wasn't even anticipating the Harry Potter book, and wasn't even planning on getting it, but it ended up on my lap Friday night (through no intention of mine), and I finished it Saturday. Ahead of people who seem to have been anticipating it. How interesting ( Read more... )

We found ours pooped out on the Friday of July 4th weekend. Turns out it was leaking freon at an impressive rate. We got it recharged the next day for an impressive chunk of cash (freon is pricey), and the technician told us scarey stories about how leak searches are so expensive & dicey that they are frequently not worth it for an old system like ours. A whole new A.C. system, though, runs thousands. *gulp*

But they came 'round yesterday & did the leak search & I got really really lucky. He found it right away & it was very cheap & easy to fix.

Had we needed to go without A.C. on July 4th weekend, that wouldn't have been a real problem, because it was mild. But being without A.C. *now*.... ohmigod, you have my sympathies. The humidity is a killer. Have you got a basement? If so, stay there, and good luck!

Ours was leaking for a while, but was still working (we're on the first floor, so leaks from the upper floors get to us). Unfortunately, the place is an apartment, so no basement... They gave us a super-powerful fan, though, and it's night-time, so it's not so bad.

Hopefully they'll be in early tommorow with the part!

I'm glad your leak search turned out ok.
