OK. I know I've ranted about PETA before. Every time, it's the same thing -- they do some outrageous protest, get attention, and respond to all objections with, "We're getting attention! This strategy works!" No, it doesn't work. They're getting attention to the protest, but completely deflecting attention from the cause. PETA's latest thing

Yeah, I tend to donate money to a local no-kill shelter, because PETA makes me have rage blackouts.

Another -- extremely specific -- animals rights/shelter is Elephant Sanctuary, which is a 2,700-acre refuge for elephants. In TENNESSEE. Super cool. Because my SiL looooves elephants, for her birthday I usually sponsor an elephant from there, in her name.
