Albenga is a pretty town on the Ligurian coast, kind of a mini Asti as it also has lots of towers build by medieval lords, clergy, rich merchants . . . towers were _the_ status accessory in medieval Italy (or whatever Duchy it then was).

Forti di Bard is a huge fortress in the Aosta valley, built in the early 1800s.
We arrived by train, and looked back down the track from the station to see that the railway's been built to run under the fort.

The Colle di Superga is a hill on the outskirts of Turin, mostly nature reserve but with the seriously Baroque Basilica di Superga at the summit.

It started snowing on the Sunday afternoon, and the pistes lost visibility seriously quickly. The snow continued all night and all Monday but we headed back, to get the new snow, but at altitude the visibility was . . . well, it wasn't :-o
