Saw the new Harry Potter last night.

Overall, I thought it was disappointing. Still the best "sequel" of the summer (not like that was hard.) but there were a lot of things that bothered me about the movie:

*Once again it seemed they wore 'muggle' clothes all the time. Why does it seem in the books like they never wear normal clothes and yet they tend to ignore that in the movies? (Total nitpick, I know)

*Way too short. The longest book should not have been such a short movie. It felt kind of cut and pasted in some parts because they tried to cut too much. Not necessary. Also, I feel like if you hadn't read the books you would have been totally confused.

*Because it was short I felt like every character was underused except Harry and Umbridge. Hermione had a decent amount of screen time, but I felt like Ron was barely there. Snape, Draco, Hagrid etc. were all underused.

*Didn't like how they made Cho tell instead of her friend. Plus she never even got to say anything to Harry about it afterwards. They never talked again. Something that really should have happened.

*It kind of annoyed me that Filch and Umbridge's Squad was on to the DA from the beginning. That didn't happen in the book.

*The Order of the Phoenix was kind of ignored as a whole. They never really introduced Tonks. I think they called her Nymphadora once. And maybe someone called her Tonks in passing.

*During the fight at the Ministry both the Death Eaters and the Order seemed to be turning into smoke and floating around the room to different places. WTF was that?! Nobody ever did that in the book! What kind of magic was that? Stupid.

*The way that Sirius died was TOTALLY WRONG. It was awful. Talking about sucking all the drama out of that death. Why did they do that? Why? It didn't even look anything like it was described in the book. In the book he was not hit with the killing curse. He was hit was something else that knocked him back through the veil. Harry expected him just to fall through and wind up on the other side but he didn't. In the movie, he was hit with the killing curse and sort of melted away in the veil. It was awful.

*The Ministry of Magic fight could have been a lot cooler than it was. I was expecting the statues to come alive and stuff. They didn't. The whole Ministry of Magic fight felt rushed from start to finish.

*I hate Michael Gambon as Dumbledore. He is not kind and gentle at all.

*Hagrid kind of disappeared from the movie with no explanation. He says he might get fired but no one ever mentions this again.

*Hated how they dragged out the Voldemort posessing Harry thing. It was really lame. It was the only part of the movie they dragged out.

Okay, and now some good stuff:

*Umbridge was definitely annoying.

*They had some good montages that showed the passage of time well. This is acceptable.

*The scene where Fred and George leave Hogwarts was pretty good. Not quite as awesome as I pictured it being though.

*The directing was good.

*The part where the Death Eaters are surrounding the students at the Ministry was pretty creepy.

*Kreacher was good, but I wished they had shown more of the house, like the mother's portrait.

*Glad Hermione and Harry didn't have to deal with the pissy Centaurs themselves. That always bothered me in the book.

I have a lot of complaints, I know. I didn't have unreasaonable expectations. I knew things were going to be cut. There were some people walking out with us complaining that there was no Firenze or Lockhart in the movie. Now those were things that were clearly going to be cut and they were. But I really think they cut too much and the movie suffered as a result. It felt very cut and pasted in some parts. The only other things that REALLY bothered me about the film was the whole moving as smoke thing and the death of Sirius. I really seriously would like to know why they totally changed that - and for the worse. Don't get it.

It's worth seeing for any Potter fan. I think non-Potter fans will be confused. I think this movie overall is probably the weakest of the 5.

Final score: 7 out of 10.

Still the best movie I've seen all summer: Transformers, believe it or not.
