klsdfjk I've read these all like, half a doz times since discovering it on my list, crying;;
“I asked for the position,” Lew said, “I hated wearing a tie to work every day. Besides, I’m actually a higher rank now. Lena just wants me to stew down there for a couple years.”
“Why?” Runner asked, stretching out his arms. He smirked when Lew got distracted. “Is this where I ask you if you see something you like?”
Lew laughed. “I confess, I didn’t take you into my home with only goodness in my heart.”
I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE. And, aw, I am still utterly charmed by Runner in this verse, and the new dynamic the two are in due to things.
They were all fun to write as I think about the next major fic to work on.
And come on, the in-jokes have to go somewhere.
But think about future Hoosier! Who spends his future days sending Leckie all over hill and dale and enjoying the simple joy of being a bartender who doesn't actually have to work for money.
My immediate thought was 'what if I just crossover...', before I caught myself (still... shame that Josh hasn't been in much other than TP. I'm not watching Home & Away, damnit. I refuse)
I AM! But I'm stuck on past Hoosier and overcoming his demons, and, holy shit
Seriously, I wish Josh could get some, like, major exposure jobs. (Everyone else has down a cop/fbi/crime show, dude, why can't you?)
Nashville!Hoosier def. has a lot of overcoming/growth to do, b/c, you know, it's rare that someone goes into the music/show business young, becomes famous, and doesn't have a fuck ton of issues. And Nashville!Hoosier def. does have a problem with setting back and letting other people make decisions for me. He's eventually going to have to get to the point where the next direction he takes in his life? It will have to be of his own doing.
