Hi Aunt Chris! The thing with the friends-only system is that you have to have a livejournal in order to be friended. I'm sorry! I know that means that you can't currently see it, but it is free and pretty easy to get a livejournal if you want to go for that. I want you to be able to read it too (although I will see you at thanksgiving!) but I also feel the need to keep my writing secure so I'm not just broadcasting it to everyone. Sometimes I will still make unlocked entries but they are usually just about inconsequential things.

Hi! Yes, I'm the mod of affirming_faith. Thanks for joining! Everyone is allowed to post comments in affirming_faith, but it is not a community in which members can post. The only ones who need to post are moderators who are responsible for creating the challenges and posting winners, etc. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I was thinking that I needed special permission to submit icons. I assume that is done in the comments?

Exactly, but everyone is allowed to submit comments. To submit an icon to the contest, just leave a comment with the URL of the image or use an html img tag to display your icon in the comment. Comments are screened so only I will be able to see them. There's more information about how to submit an icon on affirming_faith's userinfo page.
