Thing is, I'm still excited to see the movie. It's just amazing how powerful hype can be: as an attraction *and* as a deterrent.

I know I sound a little snide about the "legacy" of the book, but if anything I'd really like to see a film-maker who was daring enough to gut it and find what makes it tick. To really re-modify it for film. I've heard stories about the varying forms this project has gone through: all the way back to Terry Gilliam's BBC mini-series. I just want to see a movie that "wows" me.
