It's due time for a Livejournal revival.

Thoughts of the night:

Rivers Cuomo : Music :: Wes Anderson : Movies

***********************

Do you think Tiffani Amber Thiessen is actually just a film groupie, and acting is just one of her rewards?

***********************

What is the better American music scene?  The West Coast or the East Coast?

(that includes grunge and disco)

1. But Wes Anderson hasn't made a bunch of awful movies.

2. I think Tiffani Amber Thiessen is a hologram

3. I think both coasts are hindered by their own inflated sense of self worth. But New York slightly more, so West Coast is winnar.

I think "Tenenbaums" is really over-rated.
"Life Aquatic" tries too hard.
"Darjeeling" is just there.

He always seems really embarrassed by the genuine sincerity he put into "Bottle Rocket" and "Rushmore" and now he hides behind a thick wall of dead-pan, sort of coasting on the same emotional revelations he made 10 years ago. And they were revelatory enough that his fanbase is content with him going through the motions.

Kind of like the "Blue Album/Pinkerton" timeline.

Oh man, I couldn't disagree with you more about "Life Aquatic" I think it's a goddamn masterpiece. I think it's easily his best film and maybe the one film I feel more attachment to than any other, the one film that speaks to me, more than any other, along with Huckabees and Harold and Maude, that's pretty much everything that makes up me ( ... )

I should probably give "Life Aquatic" another viewing.
