Of course, the interesting thing is to put it to the real world experience and compare and contrast strategies in conflicts. Of the five, they are translated easily into modern military strategy...

Tao = Morale
Nature = Preparation
Situation = Tactics, contingencies
Leadership = Well...leadership...
Art = The War itself...

I am not certain if Nature equals Preparation. I get the feeling that it more represents understanding of how things work or the underlying principles. I'm not sure if this will make sense but I think more of how an understanding of physics helps with structural design. So Nature is the general background and Situation refers to the specific.

It is a soldier's knowledge of terrain and battlefield conditions. It is far more critical than people often realize. I will write more later.

Interesting... I really need to read Sun Tzu at some point. My familiarity with Chinese classics is lamentably limited...
