I am generally against inflatable Halloween lawn ornaments. But I've found something that is a damn good exception. Of all the inflatable things I have purchased in my life this one seems to be the most worthwhile investment.

I should spend the $2k right?

I'm so glad that when we got married, you explained to me that "k" stood for "Canadian dollars." :)

it is awesome, but i'd put a value of only about $500 on such a thing.

If it is sturdy it will last for years, so the per year cost is actually a lot more reasonable. Over ten years it is only $200 a year which is a downright bargain for a decoration of that scale. Way cheaper than renting one of them.

Get it. Totally worth it.

I once made a 10+ foot high Stay Puft out of white plastic trash bags and yards of felt for the hat and costume for an item for the university of chicago's ScavHunt contest (epic scavenger hunt, longstanding tradition. Other of the many items included altering the face of the moon, express written permission from Major League baseball, and a Malibu Stacy Dream Crack House. The previous year or two before that one of the challenges was for contestants to build a working nuclear reactor, which one of the students successfully did in his dorm room on a small but functional scale. They brought out some physicist professors to confirm it, it worked and everything. He got lots of points for his team but had to move out of the dorm room. ) The item was to make a 10 foot or higher "Monster of the Midway" so that is what we chose to make appear overnight on the midway Hyde Park outside of the law school.

It's awesome. And you know I would get one just to have. However, I have since grown some brains and would have to put that in It-Would-Be-Cool-To-Have-but-I-need-to-concentrate-on-my-family-first category.
