I told my mom today that if I ever become a "vegetable," I want her to let me die.
The thing that bothers me is that criminals on death-row will be killed by lethal injection, and Terri Schiavo had to suffer slowly. I don't believe in capital punishment, but if that's the way things are going to be, then something needs to change.

the saddest thing is, people care about this woman way more than anything else that went on recently. i mean, there wasn't ever a tsunami that killed 100,000's of people or anything.

The thing that sickens me the most is that the government was utilizing her comotose state as an extension of the republican "right to life" war, in short the "well, if it has signs of life, it shouldn't be terminated" shpeal that fucking disgusts me. For all intensive purposes Terry wasn't Terry anymore, her brain matter had wasted away to the point where upon if she actually awoke (an incredibly small chance as it was) she would be no more functional than your average patient with mental retardation. Not to mention her husband had promised her that he would let her die if ever she was in a state like that. They make the husband out to be a monster, when al he wanted was to not be forced to watch her shell of a wife "live" in purgatory. He wants to salvage whatever remnants of a normal life he can, he wanted to move on. He's no monster, he just has fucking bravery and respect.

Then again, I'm a HUGE advocate for human euthanasia and assisted suicide sooo, yeah.

it's lyrics from a Chokehold song. it was written about the O.J. Simpson trial in the 90's but I was listening to the song and it pretty much pertains to the Shiavo case as well

We make history out of examples. Shiavo was an example, therefore she became an important milestone is our social policy disputes...and the world is "burning" all the time, whether during peace or in drama.
