Just to Anne, I think. Mary's supposed to be a Virgin born of a virgin, so as not to have original sin, but I think technically Anne was born in the normal way of things.
You know, it's a bit hazy, but I don't remember Anne being a sinless person . . . I thought it was just Mary's conception itself that was somehow a sinless act (making her a person without original sin, and thus pure enough to carry Christ). Or something?
Clearly I need to get back into my obscure theological reading.
I know Mary's conception was supposed to be sinless, and I thought it was because Anne was also a virgin mother, though I could be wrong. (It's a bit hazy for me as well...)
We should definitely both read up more and continue this discussion :)
Ah, you know; it's moving along. I'm hip-deep in Boston-area job applications, and helping my dad get ready for his semester in India. That sort of thing. ^^

Out of curiosity, how far back is the chain of sinlessness supposed to go?
