The problem with setting up computers for these kids is that you need a massive CPU surge protector dingus, or risk the computer getting totally fried every time the power surges. Maybe a more viable option would be to set up a fund with the teachers, pass the hat with your co-students or whatever, and see if they could take the kids to a webcafe on a weekly or some kind of rotational basis. Then if you wanted you could send back some learning games that they could install.
When I was there I had to face some of that "You're from America, so clearly you're a rich miracle worker who can fix all these problems we have." So many times during my research and study there I had to explain that I was just a student and didn't have the resources for an NGO/nonprofit kind of project.

I just happen to have a couple of used computers and a used guitar here. You'd be surprised how cheap shipping can be if you're crafty. Did you ever find out about that "international donations" thing? I think there's room to really help them if we can get around that.
