i just did something that i would never usually do. and will probably never do it again. it goes against everything i stand for, everything i warn about and everything i'm scared of. but i did it because i knew it would be ok

I forgot to mention that my cousin and I got a ride once from a trucker when her car died in Indiana. He didn't take us far, but we were definitely saying to each other, "...I never do this, but he genuinely seems nice..." We had good feelings about him, too. It's all about instincts.
i took a ride from a lady at savers (went to a holiday 50% off sale early in the morning) once in east providence, she was grandma like & a former nurse, i decided she wasn't gonna kill me & i didn't want to wait an hour for the next bus. she was really nice. i'm not gonna hitchhike or anything, but it is good to know that people are still knid.
I remember getting lost...I guess I was 12 yrs old or so, and I wound up god knows where and I was trying to call my mother and whoever else from a payphone, and finally my mother figured out how I could get home (by bus), but I did not have any bus fare.
I ended up asking some man if he had a bus ticket I could have, and he said no, but he gave me change instead. Then he asked me if I wanted a lift home. Suprisingly enough, I hesisted and then said no. To be honest, I think he had kids of his own and was relieved that I didn't just get into the car with him.
Anyway, I appreciated his bus fare and friendliness.
trust me, i would NEVER have done it. i was even shocked myself that i said yes. i was just in such a bind. mike almost had a heart attack when i told him - he was so so mad (no kidding, i would be too).
paul and i had a similar thing happen the other day, only it had to do with people pulling over to help pull my saturn out of a ditch. we were on the side of a mountain so there was no cell reception to call AAA and we basically waited around for nice people to help us out. luckily we found some and ended up giving them a pound of coffee each. :) (we just happened to have 8 lbs in the car) anyway, i'm glad you're safe and not dead, rolled in a carpet on the side of a highway somewhere...it goes to show that there are nice people left in the world and the best thing to do is keep spreading it around. :) later, rosalie
