Wow, it sounds like it really sucks. I'm sorry - I know you were looking forward to getting a good start.

Just put in your two week notice and explain to your boss that you don't think you're a good fit after all. If you hate it they've probably noticed anyhow. Just be calm and professional about it and it'll be fine.

I quit jobs all the time.

my general rule is that it takes 2 months to find out how you really feel about a job. because everything is always frustrating when you first start and everyone is always trying the "trial by fire" techniques to see who can take it.

whole point is there will always be a learning curve anywhere you go, and getting good at a hard job is rewarding.

however, if you are busting your ass for a job that you know you will never be able happily perform...quit it. its a lot of time and personal investiment, and if the money you are recieving doesn't justify the work you are putting into it... quit. its not just the $ bottom line, but the human aspect as well. besides, whats wrong with coffeeshops?

two weeks notice is nice, but only if you think quitting and never showing up will bite you in the ass later on (i.e. working within the field, with a competator, friends of boss or something).

I quit my last job. I couldn't take it anymore and I walked into the back and said "That's it, I can't take it anymore. I'm giving you a weeks notice."

Since I had been working there for so long, I felt comfortable enough with my manager, and in the end she asked me for 2 weeks instead of 1, and I agreed.

If you plan on putting the job on your CV, it is ALWAYS good to give at least a weeks notice. Also, you have to keep in mind that it's a small world and even if you don't put it on your CV, you do not want to risk a potential employer finding out that you went AWOL.

If I were you, I would give a week or two notice, not put it on your CV and look for something else. This way, you don't risk the chance of people outing you as an irresponsible employee, but at the same time, it doesn't look like you change jobs every 5 minutes.

=)

Feel better.
