Webserver Rebuild
I've decided to rebuild my Sun Ultra10 web server. Mostly, I want to do it right this time, utilizing zones and throwing ZFS on the secondary drive. Plus, I'm going to work on getting mysql and other services set up in SMF correctly so they will restart on boot up correctly ( Read more... ) -

Well, I haven't played wow for months, but...

Solaris is king
Or at least, it's quite fun for the computer masochist in me. I've written a little update on my website; a general rant about my experiences with Solaris, as well as an overlook of where my computing experience started and where it is today. -
the return of the website
Well, I have been poking my website for the better part of the evening, and have settled on a new design. I'm still piecing some parts together, but for now it's a working website. I'll be posting information there as well as here. I am quite pleased with the work i have accomplished so far. -
opensolaris on thinkpad t61 update
Sound is now working in opensolaris on my laptop!!!!!!!111111
now using Opensound System 4.0 build 1015. hooray!!!!!! off to play monkey island in ScummVM. :D
oh, and on another note, plopbox.net is now working on my ubuntu install, too. total score in the sound department, today.
also, hardy heron is FAIL. that is all. -
Linux Audio and music players, part deux
Welp, I've been constantly tinkering around more and more, and settled down with amaroK. It has stopped crashing frequently, due to nothing in particular. I believe it was not dealing with large sets of file imports very well. For whatever reason, I like it infinitely more than iTunes, which I loathe. or was it? the first two out of four are speculated to have been caused by anchors, while Egypt has stated that the third cut was not by a ship, as there were no ships around at the time. Over such a short timespan, I have a really hard time believing that it is just coincidence. Sure, it could be. I'd love for it to be. But it is very strange ( Read more... ) -
