Ok.... so I promised Id make an update about the dance on thursday :D
So, to start, Im on student body council, so had to stay and help set up.. my mom heard this and went berserk, saying she didnt have any clue that it was the day of the dance (even tho I had alerted her of it the NIGHT before) anyways, finally she stopped arguing and I got around to helping set up. The theme was Las Vegas Glitter Rock, so we had a ton of glitter and other sparkly stuff that we covered the gym with. For the picture area where everyone could have their pictures taken, we had sparkly streamers in the background and a table covered in dice and playing cards to give the effect of gambling :D Prolly the thing we put the least amount of work into, but hey, it still looked good. Then, for the dance floor set up. We started by connecting a rope to all the basketball whoops to basically hang stuff off of, which was meant to make it so there was gonna be a smaller room inside the gym, which would be where everyone would dance. From the rope we started by hanging christmas lights. I got to do this myself since Im so tall lol. So I spent the majority of my time helping to set up by constantly moving a ladder and hanging the lights. It was extremely fun, even though I did fall off the ladder when I was about 10 feet up once lol. I admit it, Im a pretty clumsy person :P Anyways, after I had all the lights up, we hung from the ropes streamers and other stuff. We had glittered stars and playing cards that we tied to ribbon and hung from the rope along with regular white streamers and bright silver.. well, basically something that was like the same texture as duct tape cept brighter and much bigger strips in between each set off stars, streamers, and cards. We covered the gym floor in glitter and covered the benches and tables with confetti (sp?) We barely had everything done by the time the dance actually was supposed to start and people began arriving. This was by far the best set up I had seen for any school dances yet, so I was partiularly excited about this dance. Anyways, the dance had finally begun. For the first 45 minutes or so I was mostly sitting on the bleachers watching because the DJ was just playing rap mostly (UGH!!) When the slow dances came on though, it was quite fun. The DJ had a lot more snowballs than most other DJs do and for the first time ever we had a DJ that had danceoffs. HEd have 2 girls or 2 boys volunteer to dance off and the better one would be decided by applause. The dance offs were extremely funny to watch when it came the boys turn, as Im sure anyone could imagine lol. we didnt get many slow dances tho, because it turns out that our principal doesnt like slow dances for whatever bullshit reason.. so that totally blew. For the few slow dances that we did have tho.. which all turns out to be snowbals unforetunately except one for the king/queen prince/princess that were chosen for the dance. Even tho there werent many slow dances I still had a ton of fun tho.. not to mention there were 3 girls who were flirting with me for the majority of the duration of the dance. one from 7th grade an 8th grader from a neighboring school who was HELLA freaking hot (she was basically a magnet to me during slow dances. During all of the dances shed wrap herself around me hecka tight to the the point where there was almost no room between us) and another 8th grader from my school who actually convinced me to dance with her during something OTHER than a slow dance.. was actually the first time Ive danced to a fast dance with any girls at my school. From the looks of things were going to be having a LOT more dances this year.. likely one every month or every 2 months rather than once a trimester. Our next dance is going to be just before Xmas break, and Im very much looking forward to it.. not to mention Im hella looking forward to helping decorate for it.
