From elouise82's comment: "...and OF COURSE Eustace misses flying, he probably becomes a stunt pilot in his spare time when he's not studying reptiles."
The only other thing more perfect for Eustace than studying reptiles is becoming a stunt pilot. Or... OMG... THE SPACE RACE!!! Eustace becomes an aerospace engineer and consults for NASA!!
Yes, well, Eustace held a grudge against Susan for *years* after that botched mission of hers in Tyuratam in '56. She had totally underestimated Korolev's importance and the amount of Wild Turkey that had consumed.
And then there was unfortunate confrontation with that young trollop Kuznetsova in early '62. The blouse was Valentino. Mr. Garavani gifted it to Susan *personally.* The caviar stains never did come out. It was the least Susan could do in revenge.
It was with mad glee when Susan read in the Sydney Morning Herald on the 18th of June, 1963 that it was Tereshkova, not Kuznetsova, that successfully made it safely to orbit. She sent a rather smug sounding message to Eustace, who in return wired her something about being on the cusp of Gemini, or some other horoscopical nonsense that she couldn't follow.
Love this. Just love it. It is one of those things that I read over and over and think, gosh, I wish I had written that. Gemini as horoscopical nonsense... The Valentino blouse, Tereshkova and caviar! I want to put little hearts around this forever.
I love it! At this point several things are feeding into a far-future (for them- 1990's) improbable crossover featuring Eustace and [redacted], and the stunt-pilot thing fits perfectly into the eclectic character development I had in mind! I am totally using this :-)
Hmm.... Eustace the stunt pilot, Eustace the peyote vision-quester, if he keeps this up "mysterious and alluring" may be in reach. Continued obliviousness is a given.
To Susan, at least, it would be something along the lines of "Su, you KNOW Eustace would be hopeless at Rat and Crow. They'd be on to him in a heartbeat" I didn't get around to figuring out what he said to the others, but I figured it would be good, knowing Ed.
And in a lot of ways, I find his and Jill's deaths more tragic/more of a waste than the others; Lucy, Edmund, and Peter were obviously way too young, too, but they did at least have their time to grow up and into their skills in Narnia the first time; and then Polly and Digory obvs led very full and very awesome lives. (And their parents are just sad, like, why on earth did they have to die too?)
But Eustace and Jill! Just barely beginning their first time 'round growing up...
Love this! Why don't we see more interaction between Eustace and Peter (always excepting your lovely scene in TQSiT, Rth)? They are so interesting when they talk together, and on so many levels. Eustace would be a wonderful flier, I am sure, if only because his scientific mind would be fascinated by the mechanics of it. The boy has a very deep sense of beauty, too, though you'd never think that, given the face he normally displays to the world. Gorgeous.
And of course Edmund would smooth over the NASA thing with everyone. Who better than the diplomat? :)

For some reason I am getting a sneaking suspicion that Eustace is related to Rodney McKay.
Bzuh?

(also I love that amidst all the silly, it is Eustace upon whom we seem to have latched for the serious-er matters)

Taking a page from Ruth's journal, you get right on that. :-)
