The other thing you could do with the skirt hem, is what I did for my yellow ballgown. Binding. Donna managed to find extent garments with hem binding instead of a turned hem. But a faced hem works well too.

Ah, I never thought of that! Though I would be wanting to use binding made from the same fabric so it all matches, and unfortunately I don't have enough of either fabric to really make this work. I'm perhaps thinking of doing something similar to my Aurora skirt - I sewed a wide bias binding around the hem, and then used a fusible hemming tape to attach the binding to the inside of the skirt so there was no visible stitching on the outside. Though, visible stitching won't be a huge issue since all the skirts will have frills that cover the hems, so I wouldn't need to use the hemming tape. I wouldn't mind putting a proper dust ruffle on the hems of the skirts either.
